The research unit of the Institute of Technology, University of Moratuwa (ITUM) invites applications for the ITUM Research Awards 2026 to recognize and appreciate outstanding research achievements of the academic staff of ITUM.
The award scheme has been established to strengthen the research culture of ITUM, encourage high-quality scholarly output, promote innovation and technology transfer and enhance the national and international research visibility of the institute.
We are dedicated to fostering a vibrant institutional ecosystem where curiosity thrives and scholarly investigation is celebrated. By lowering barriers to entry and celebrating academic curiosity, this scheme aims to embed rigorous research practices into the daily fabric of our academic community across all disciplines.

For senior or mid-career academics demonstrating exceptional and sustained research performance.
For academics with strong research productivity and institutional research contributions.
For permanent lecturers with less than 8 years of service at ITUM demonstrating notable research achievement.
Applicants are required to submit:
All applicants must submit a sealed envelope containing the complete application package to the Examinations Division Front Office on or before 31 August 2026 at 4.15 p.m.Applicants are encouraged to submit the application as a complete package, including all required documents, all requested supporting evidence, and any additional supporting evidence available.
Eligibility Requirement:
Only publication and patents completed during ITUM service and belonging to the evaluation year will be considered.
Applications will be reviewed by a panel of experienced academics appointed, following the approved evaluation criteria of the Research Award Scheme.
The panel will conduct a fair, transparent, and objective assessment to recognize outstanding research achievements
and scholarly contributions of ITUM staff.
