The research unit of the Institute of Technology, University of Moratuwa (ITUM) invites applications for the ITUM Research Awards 2026 to recognize and appreciate outstanding research achievements of the academic staff of ITUM.
The award scheme has been established to strengthen the research culture of ITUM, encourage high-quality scholarly output, promote innovation and technology transfer and enhance the national and international research visibility of the institute.
We are dedicated to fostering a vibrant institutional ecosystem where curiosity thrives and scholarly investigation is celebrated. By lowering barriers to entry and celebrating academic curiosity, this scheme aims to embed rigorous research practices into the daily fabric of our academic community across all disciplines.
The most profound discoveries rarely happen in isolation. This initiative is designed to incentivize cross-disciplinary partnerships, bridging the gap between distinct fields of study. By encouraging researchers to pool their diverse expertise, we aim to tackle complex, multifaceted global challenges that require collective intelligence.
Exceptional dedication deserves the spotlight. This scheme serves as a premier platform to honor trailblazing contributions and milestones in research. By publicly acknowledging outstanding scholars, we not only reward their hard work but also set a high benchmark of excellence that inspires the entire community.
True progress lies in pushing boundaries and challenging the status quo. We actively champion forward-thinking, high-risk, high-reward research that transforms theoretical concepts into tangible, real-world solutions. Our goal is to accelerate the transition of ideas from the lab or library into practical applications that benefit society.
Beyond the immediate accolades, this scheme is a long-term investment in human capital. By providing researchers with increased visibility, networking opportunities, and institutional backing, we empower them to secure future funding, publish in high-impact journals, and elevate their long-term academic and professional trajectories.
